Long Waitlists · High Caseloads · Districtwide Demand for Crisis Support
Since COVID-19, long waitlists for care have impacted students, families, and school staff at Kettering City Schools. With the district’s school-based therapists already at capacity, a continual influx of high-priority cases across the district have delayed care for students with lower-level needs.
1:1 Student Teletherapy · Parental Guidance · Medication Evaluation & Management
Cartwheel’s 1:1 teletherapy program gives school-based staff a referral option for a variety of student needs, relieving some of their caseloads. This has been particularly beneficial for students with low acuity levels subject to long waitlists due to higher priority cases and has been an essential intervention and preventative measure. Cartwheel’s virtual sessions are held wherever clinical needs are best met, be that at school during the school day or in the student’s home after school hours.
Kettering partners with Cartwheel via The Montgomery County Educational Service Center (MCESC) allowing students and families to access mental health services they wouldn’t otherwise have due to waitlists, insurance issues, language availability, transportation, and other barriers.
